What makes us unique? Not only do we offer defensive handgun training, more importantly we provide the opportunity to maintain those skills through regular practice at fun-filled events. Our Fast-Track Training Program lets beginners start with dry-fire training, then progress at their own pace to shooting at the range with defensive handguns. We are a member-led and member-instructed non-profit community organizationWe believe in the beneficial values of community service and personal growth through helping others. |
Firearms training for beginners
Shooter CertificationsADTA offers four levels of handgun Shooter Certifications. New shooters advance their shooting skills by getting signed off on specific skills, much like earning scouting merit badges. The first level is your SAFE SHOOTER CERTIFICATION. This qualifies you to attend our live-fire events in open shooting bays. From there you can work your way up. Visit our Certifications page to learn more. Scenario based training eventsMany of our training scenarios focus on basic shooting skills you need for HOME DEFENSE—getting off the X, hitting your target quickly and accurately, and shooting from cover, to name a few.Other training scenarios familiarize you with ACTIVE SHOOTER SITUATIONS in public places, or get you ready for SUDDEN CONFRONTATIONS where you must react quickly to a threat. What is a FUN SHOOT?How often do you get together and go shooting with friends? Our Fun Shoots give you a good reason to include more live-fire practice in your busy schedule. Membership is not required to attend. This is a great way to find out more about ADTA. To shoot or not to shoot? We believe that using a firearm for self-defense should be your last resort, after all other methods have failed. Besides helping you learn how to shoot, ADTA also wants you to know how to AVOID shooting. Our Layers of Safety training helps you learn non-lethal self-defense skills that help protect you physically as well as legally. Get to know usIf you're a beginner, the best way to learn more about ADTA is by attending one of our FREE Dry-Fire Training Workshops.
